Well, it has been a few days because of terrible wi-fi ability, but all better now.
ANKARA - Saturday we arrived in Ankara, which is the capital of Turkey. Huge city with over 2 million people. We went straight to the Kemal Ataturk memorial. He died in 1932 but is responsible for all the reforms in Turkey. He is loved all over the country. The memorial was all marble and covered acres. They even have a changing of the guard by the military who stand guard at the steps. All of his personal items were kept and are on display (cars, boat, clothes etc). From there we went to our hotel. Very nice. Several of us took a cab to 7th street (the shopping and eating destination). Boy that is the truth. We ate at a Turkish restaurant up one of the alleys. There were musicians who serenaded everyone. Chicken kabobs were excellent. As we left the restaurant the call to pray started. Pretty amazing.
